To prepare for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, especially the opening match against Vietnam, the President of the Thai Football Federation has just held an important meeting with coach Akira Nishino, technical director Carles Romagosa, deputy secretary general of the foreign affairs department. Pasanat Supaphong and representatives of clubs are playing in the two highest tournaments of Thai football.
Mr. Somyos Pumpanmuang affirmed that the confrontation with Vietnam is of great significance to the whole qualifying round of Thailand. At the same time, the head of FAT called on all Thai clubs to cooperate and contribute their best to the national team, including the issue of releasing people.
“Countries in Southeast Asia have carefully prepared. Some countries have suspended domestic tournaments to focus on the team. They even took the team to train in Europe. Therefore, Thailand also needs a good preparation. Clubs whose players are called up to the national team should consider this an honor and are on national duty. Players should play football for the honor of the country.”
Meanwhile, deputy secretary-general of the foreign affairs department, Pasanat Supaphong, said: “Usually, we will send a summons request to the clubs. But coach Akira Nishino thinks that should not be done.
He will follow the rules of FIFA and the teams in Japan usually do. That is, the head coach will select 30 players to focus on and only notify the clubs 15 days in advance. Moreover, coach Akira Nishino also wants the Thai team to be able to go abroad for training to improve their skills.”
Here, Thailand also agreed to choose Thammasat Stadium (home of True Bangkok United Club) to host the match against Vietnam instead of Rajamangala Stadium as originally planned.
