Minnewaska opens with a tough loss to Park Rapids


Aug. 23—The Minnewaska girls tennis tennis team opened the season with a 4-3 non-conference loss Saturday at Park Rapids.

The match was extremely close. Park Rapids’ Morgan Koppleman at No. 2 singles needed three sets to beat the lakers’ Abby Randt, 6-7 (1), 7-6 (1), 10-8.

Conversely, Minnewaska’s Megan Thorfinnson won at No. 4 singles with a 7-6 (5), 3-6, 11-9 victory over Shailyn Hayes.

All three doubles matches were close as well.
